VILLAGES

PARIKIA : capital city of the island.

You will be seduced by this typical Cyclades‘ atmosphere. Lime whitened houses, blue windows and coloured flowerpots is the perfect scenery for your holiday. As elsewhere in The Cyclades, you will find flowers, terrasses, typical narrow streets of the Cyclades’ popular architecture where white and blue prevail. At Parikia‘s port, you will find all the bus lines serving all the island’s villages.

 

ALIKI : small fishermen village at the south of Paros.

The village hosts festivals at each season. Do not miss the Saviour’s celebration on the 6th of August and the Holy Cross feast on the 14th of september. It is a perfect Kite Surf’s spot due to its strong summer winds. If you pratice scuba-diving, it is a welle chosen place as you will discover the remains of the ancient city.

 

LEFKES : in the center of the island

Authentical village built in a amphitheater shape along mountainsides. It is te traditional Greek style village plus the Cyclades’ charm. You will discover white houses, lime whitened sidewalks and streets filles with flowers. For the hikers, it is the starting point for the byzantine path which links Lefkes with Podromos. Built 1000 years ago with marble paving stones. Other tracks go from this village and will guide you to beautiful olive trees, myrtle, sage and thyme wild landscapes.

 

NAOUSSA : small typical port, Paros‘ true jem.

For many, it is the Aegean Sea’s most beautiful and romantic port. For others, it is the place for nightlife or onmy a charming stroll along its narrow paved streets. In Naoussa you will feal the Cyclades’ beauty. At the entrance of the small port stands the Enetic castle built during the 14th century. Around the boats, the old fish wharehouses transformed into taverns, bars and restaurants. It is in the heart of the city where locals and tourists come enjoy themselves every evening.

 

PATHS AND TRAILS

Easy walking places along mountain paths or by the sea to offer you a refreshing break.

 

POUNDA to ALIKI:
A 9km hike along the coast of about 2h45 which will take you through earth paths. Take a special care on the 600 to 700 meters of rocky part. Follow the path as their is no signs. You will follow the coastline and be able to chose bathing spots along the way.

 

HIKING at PAROS-PARK :
A hike of about 2 hours along carefully signed paths. Several recommended stops in this remarkable natural area with a heart-stopper for the lighthouse view. It is impossible to get lost. Splendid views over Naoussa’s bay with on the background the neighboring island of Naxos.

 

PRODROMOS – LEFKES  (“Byzantine Path”) :
One of the classical itinary of Paros : the  «Byzantine path», which leads starting from Podromos to the picturesque village of Lefkes.

 

MARATHI – THAPSANA :
This trail will lead you to the ancient quarries of Marathi while passing by garnet mines and the monastery of Agios Minas. It is an easy hike on a 4km distance. On your way back, the road to Parikia passes by the Elitas bridge and follows the path leading to the remarkable Panaghia Myrtidiotissa monastery.
